Case Study - Southfield Farm, Dalkeith

Endurance E-3120 wind turbine, 24m tower

Scaled Energy were commissioned to supply and install this Endurance at Southfield Farm. Southfield farm is an arable farm operating as part of a managed estate with a large grain drying facilitiy into which the wind turbine is connected. The power from the wind turbine will be used when required, with surplus electricity exported to the national grid.

Scaled Energy managed and carried out the construction of the project including the foundation, access track, hard standing for the cranes, trenching & cable laying, public road crossing and the electrical installation and communication systems for the turbine.

The distance from the turbine to the farm is over 700m and the works required the crossing of a public road. Civil works were completed in 4 weeks, with the installation completed in 4 days. Grid commissioning with Scottish Power was completed 3 days later.

This turbine was commissioned on the 13th August 2012. Scaled Energy are grateful to have been asked to carry out this project for Southfield Farm.
